Trip 48

This trip was mostly dedicated to the two art shows I was a part of in Ann Arbor, MI and Geneva, IL. The Geneva show was particularly successful and enjoyable. The side quest of the trip, but also the namesake, was checking off the final two states of the lower 48 that I had yet to visit, Michigan and Wisconsin!

It has been a wonderful journey traveling this country over the last few years, and I cannot wait to be able to explore Hawaii and Alaska to round out the entire United States. But, for now, this has been a very satisfying accomplishment. There is so much variety across this vast country; however, it is always fascinating to see just how similar two places can be even when they are separated by hundreds or thousands of miles .

Most of my time between the two shows was spent in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the U.P. as it’s called. It was a wonderful area of the country with many cool places to visit. On the Shores of Lake Michigan or Lake Superior you do truly imagine you are staring at an ocean and not a lake at all. This does lend the region to being quite unique, and yet similar to areas of Maine and P.E.I in Canada where I visited in the fall of 2024.

Surprise, surprise, all three of these regions lie between 45°N and 47°N!
